Tommy was a little boy who always teased others. He took pride in being the toughest kid in school.
He would push kids and tease them. He thought it made him look strong and cool.
“I am the strongest of all,” He would chuckle.
One day, there was a big birthday celebration in class. It was Lily’s birthday, and she brought a delicious cake to share with everyone. The classroom was filled with laughter and excitement as the kids gathered around the table.
“Happy Birthday, Lily!” They all sang.
Tommy walked over, ready to push his way to the front.
“I want cake,” he snickered.
However, no one wanted him near the cake. They all turned their backs and whispered to each other.
“Oh no, he will ruin the party,” Charles whispered.
“I don’t want to share the cake with him,” Lily huffed.
Tommy tried to join the group, but they ignored him.
“Why isn’t anyone letting me have cake?” Tommy wondered.
He went to sit alone at his desk, watching everyone else enjoy the party. For the first time, he felt lonely. Miss Green noticed Tommy sitting by himself. She walked over and sat next to him.
“Tommy, why aren’t you joining the party?” she asked gently.
“No one wants me there,” Tommy said, looking down.
“Tommy, have you ever thought about how you treat your classmates?”
“I just like to have fun. They should be okay with it,” Tommy frowned.
“No Tommy, you might be having fun but others get hurt when you do this. To have fun, you need to be kind and respectful,” Miss Green smiled.
Tommy thought about this for a moment. He realized Miss Green was right. He had always pushed others around and now he was the one being left out.
“What should I do, Miss Green?” Tommy asked quietly.
“You need to apologize and show that you can be a good friend,” Miss Green said.
“Always remember that to be friends with someone, you have to be kind”
Tommy nodded. He stood up and walked over to the group. He took a deep breath and said, “I’m sorry for being mean to all of you. I promise I’ll try to be nicer from now on. Can I join you?”
The kids looked at each other, surprised by Tommy’s apology. Lily smiled and handed him a slice of cake. “Everyone deserves a second chance. Join us, Tommy.”
Tommy’s face lit up with a smile. “Thanks, Lily.” He took the cake and sat down with the others. As they ate, Tommy shared his snacks with his classmates as well.
After the cake, they all played games together. Tommy was careful not to push or tease. Instead, he helped and cheered for his friends. Tommy even helped Robert get up who fell while playing. The class had so much fun, and Tommy felt happier than ever. By the end of the day, Tommy realized that being kind was much better than being a bully. He had friends now, and it felt good to share and help others.
