Benny was a little bunny who loved going on adventure with his friends. Together, they had seen green meadows, crystal blue lakes and tallest trees.
However, little Benny had one fear that stopped him from going out late. Benny was afraid of the dark.
“What if there are monsters out there?”
“What if I can’t find the way back home?”
“What if I get lost?”
Benny had so many fears. Every night, when the sun went down, Benny would burrow deep into his cozy hole and refuse to come out until morning. He felt safe in his hole, but he was missing out on all the fun his friends were having.
“Come on, Benny. We will go see the shooting stars!” His best friend Sammy the squirrel always tried to convince him.
“No, I can see the stars from my burrow,” He’d huff and went back to his hole.
The truth was Benny wanted to go out but he just wanted to overcome his fear to have fun with his friends. Days passed and Benny started to feel a little sad that he was missing out on all the fun. His best friends Sammy the squirrel and Tina the turtle also wanted Benny to join them for adventure.
One fine evening, Sammy had an idea.
“Let’s help Benny see that the dark isn’t so scary,” he said to Tina.
Tina agreed, and they started to plan a nighttime adventure for Benny.
That evening, just as the sun was setting, Sammy and Tina knocked on Benny’s door.
“Come out, Benny! We have a surprise for you,” they called.
Benny peeked out of his hole and looked scared. “But it’s getting dark,” he said nervously.
“We’ll be with you the whole time,” Tina promised him.
“Come on, it will be fun!”
Benny took a deep breath and slowly hopped out of his hole. His heart was beating fast, but he trusted his friends. Together, they held hands as they hopped and walked to the meadow.
“How will I get back?” Benny was afraid.
“We will go back together!” Sammy smiled.
The sky was dark, but it was also full of twinkling stars. Benny looked up in awe.
“The stars are so pretty,” he was amazed.
“See, the night can be beautiful,” Sammy said with a smile.
They walked further into the meadow. Suddenly, a tiny light flickered nearby.
“AGHHH, monster,” Benny screamed and jumped behind Sammy.
Tina laughed. “That’s just a firefly, Benny. It’s not a monster.”
Benny peeked out and saw the little firefly glowing softly. He felt a little silly for being scared.
They heard the gentle sounds of crickets chirping and the hooting of an owl.
“Are those the night monsters?” Benny was still a bit scared.
“No silly, they are the crickets and owls,” they chuckled.
The night was dark but having his friends by his side made him feel braver. They sat down on grass to watch the stars.
“Look, the shooting star!” Benny exclaimed. Benny looked around and realized he wasn’t scared anymore. He was actually enjoying the night.
“Thank you, Sammy and Tina,” Benny said. “I’m glad you brought me out here. The night isn’t so bad after all.”
Sammy and Tina smiled. “We’re glad you’re having fun,” Sammy said.
Benny felt happy and brave. He knew that with his friends by his side, he could face anything, even the dark.
When it was finally time to go back home, Benny wasn’t scared at all. He hopped happily back to his hole, looking forward to their next nighttime adventure. He had learned that sometimes, what we fear isn’t as scary as it seems, especially with friends to support us.
